Case Submission

Have you experienced an engaging medical case containing an image and would like to have it published on Image of the Week ?

Download the case model file (model.doc) and send an e-mail to imagemdasemana@medicina.ufmg.br attaching your archive, which needs to fulfill the requirements set by our model. You should include the image(s) in the document, subtitled and in a small-sized version and also attach it(them) in its (their) original high resolution format (JPG). You can also attach videos (such as endocopic techiniques, etc) as MP4 or FLV.


Norms for submission

1. The case must follow the format available for download (model.doc).

2. Each case might have up to 5 (five) authors, including the advisor, who must be an university professor, residency tutor or an specialist physician in the theme at issue.

3. The images attached to the case must be sent along with a informed consent form signed by the patient.

4. Submitting is open to all the scientific community and the authors do not need to be members of our University.

5. Each case sent will be assessed by a commission which will verify the adequacy to the given model and, if necessary, make suggestions to the authors and give them a one-week deadline to send back the document properly revised.

6. Upon approval, the case will be placed in our publishing schedule and the authors will be notified of a probable date of exhibition.

7. Those who have their case chosen for publication in the Revista Médica de Minas Gerais will be notified via e-mail and given a one-week deadline to send their manuscript adapted to the format required by this journal.

 

The best case of each trimester will be published in the journal Revista Médica de Minas Gerais*

*The best case selection is carried out by an independent commission consisting of four UFMG School of Medicine Professors – from different specialties – and one medical student. It obeys the following criteria : 1. Clinical relevance of the case; 2. Its impact on learning; 3. The quality of its description (objectivity, coherence, cohesion, concision, etc.); 4. The technical quality of its photographic documentation/medical imaging.
